    Bucketlist

    $60.00

    the story:
In one of the studio sessions at my teacher Genevieve Williams she asked us to design our bucket list -Our goals, hopes, or just things-to-do in the future. I never made one before. My goals seem to change every, I invent a new hobby almost every day. And, I think that list is very personal, some goals are so private that I would rather obscure them.
The first on the list is pretty sure off: Make New Great Work, and from there on it gets decoded…

    the story:
My daughter complained that “shut up” is really not an appropriate language. so we changed it to “sit down, and eat your vegetables”.
Initially I designed this typeface for a magazine pitch called “Sketch and Scratch Kitchen” and used it on a few flyers

The view across the street from our windows. I admire the owner’s quest to make this the most beautiful building in the Lower East Side. It used to be painted red, white & green, so we called it the pizza house.

One cold autumn evening I went to Chinatown after a rainfall and sketched this iconic corner on Pell Street. Across the street is my favorite vegetarian DimSum restaurant.
I am standing in front of the gift&nicknack store that looks like is has been there for decades. Around the corner is the infamous bend in the street, known as “the Bloody Angle” because of numerous shootings among the Tong Gangs of Chinatown that lasted into the 1930s.

The image is composed of several sketches: It started with Delancey Street & Orchard Street, but the skyline of the Empire State Building is not visible from that angle. Also, the left hand fassades are from prince Street at Bowery, and the subway is on 14th street.

At the beginning of Eldridge street at the foot of the Manhattan bridge there is this very narrow house (on the right) resembling a film facade. Next to it is the restored synagogue. Left is Chinatown with all great fruit vendors leading into Canal street.

This station is now replaced by a subway. The old crossing often got dangerously packed with crowds of people, bikes, and trucks. Right behind me is the Ozeki supermarket that I often shopped at.
